Operation Ika Moana (OPIM25), a sub-regional initiative reactivated in 2025, was hosted by Samoa from August 8th to 15th. This operation aims to combat illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing and transnational crime in the Pacific through multilateral joint patrols, joint training with partners, and networking events. The FFA Secretariat through its Operations Division provided support for the preparation, coordination, and execution of OPIM25, including MDA Watchkeeper training, intelligence analysis coordination, and Boarding Inspection refresher training for Guardian Class Patrol Boats (GCPBs). This initiative strengthens national capacity and reinforces fisheries boarding inspection capabilities among participating members.
